In a recent report, The Athletic mentioned that Barcelona are eyeing a move for Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane in 2024. It has been stated that the Catalan club will face competition in the form of Manchester United in the race to recruit the English striker next summer.
Kane’s Productive Season In Premier League Football
Kane had another excellent campaign at Tottenham recently as he put in a lot of influential displays for them in the final third. The London-born forward scored 32 goals and picked up five assists in 49 matches for Spurs last season in all competitions.
The England international was a decent performer in the opponent’s half based on his average of 3.4 shots, 1.5 key passes and 1.1 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. However, he was far from convincing when linking up with others around him in the final third, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 72% in the top tier of English football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the North London club will run out next summer. Hence, it is no surprise that Barcelona are eyeing a move for him on a free transfer at the end of next season.
Will Kane Be A Dream Option For Barcelona Boss Xavi?
Kane has proven himself to be an accomplished forward in Premier League football over the years. He is a lethal finisher in front of the opposition goal and can also set up a few decent chances for his teammates on the attacking third of the field.
The English sensation is also quite intelligent with his movements in and around the opponent’s penalty box. However, as mentioned earlier, he has to find a way to improve his link-up play up top.
Someone of Kane’s quality will be a great addition to Barcelona boss Xavi’s squad next year. At 29, he still has plenty of football left in him and could help the Catalan club challenge for some major trophies over the next few years.
