Aston Villa have announced on their official website that they have signed Moussa Diaby from Bayer 04 Leverkusen. The Villans have managed to acquire the services of the French speedster for an undisclosed fee this summer.
Diaby’s Impressive Run Of Form In Premier League Football
Diaby enjoyed a great campaign at Leverkusen in the previous campaign as he was responsible for performing at a high level for them in the final third. The French wing wizard banged in 14 goals and grabbed 11 assists in 48 matches for the German outfit last season in multiple competitions.
The 24-year-old was a consistent performer for Leverkusen in the opponent’s half based on his average of 2.4 shots, 1.8 key passes and 1.5 dribbles per 90 minutes in Bundesliga. He even interchanged possession relatively well with his teammates after making 79.2% of his attempted passes in the German first division (stats via whoscored).
Diaby is currently playing some of the best football of his young career. Hence, Aston Villa have done well to bring him on board in this off-season.
Is Diaby A Good Signing For Aston Villa Boss Unai Emery?
Diaby is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few promising runs with the ball out on the flanks. He has got the vision to engineer some good opportunities for his teammates to score. Diaby mainly functions as a right-winger but can also fill in as a left-sided wide player if asked to do so by his manager.
The French talent can even strike the ball with venom from long range. Hence, he would be a great fit for Unai Emery’s style of play at Villa Park. We can expect Diaby to add more pace and goals to Aston Villa‘s frontline. At 24, the future looks quite promising for him as he has got the skillset to taste a lot of success at the highest level.
Diaby is undoubtedly good enough to play as a regular starter at Villa Park next season. He might even help the West Midlands club compete for a top-half finish in the Premier League over the next few years. Hence, it seems like Diaby would be a great signing for Aston Villa as long as the player can make a smooth transition to life in English football.
