In a recent interview with TeamTalk, journalist Charles Watts revealed that Arsenal are showing interest in Ajax attacker Mohammed Kudus this summer. Watts said,
“He [Kudus] is definitely a player that they like.
“I’ve seen the recent reports that they’re potentially looking to step up that interest a bit later on in the window, which wouldn’t surprise me if that is the case.
“I still think they’re probably looking at adding at least one more player before the deadline and Kudus ticks a lot of boxes in terms of what they would look to bring in. He can cover on that right-hand side of the attack, which is absolutely a priority for Arsenal. He’s versatile, which is, again, an absolute must if you’re going to sign for Arsenal nowadays under Mikel Arteta.”
Kudus’ Impressive Run Of Form In Dutch Football
Kudus had a decent campaign at the Dutch club after he put in a series of impressive displays for them in the final third. The 22-year-old scored 18 times and secured seven assists in 42 matches for Ajax last season in all competitions.
The Ghana international was a reliable performer in the opponent’s half as he averaged 2.3 shots, 1.0 key passes and 3.0 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Dutch Eredivisie. He was even accurate when distributing the ball based on his pass success rate of 87.6% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
What Will Kudus Bring To Arsenal?
Kudus excels at finding space for himself to get some strikes in on-target. He can shoot the ball with power and accuracy from long range and has got the vision to create a few meaningful openings for his teammates in the final third.
The Ghana international is a good dribbler with the ball as well and hardly gives away possession cheaply in the opponent’s half. Hence, he would be a great fit for Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta‘s brand of football.
We can expect Kudus to bring more goals and creativity to the North London club‘s frontline. He might even help the Gunners compete for some major honours over the next few years. Thus, Arteta should focus on getting a deal done for him this summer.
