In a recent report, The Sun mentioned that Arsenal are among the clubs hoping to land Monaco defender Axel Disasi this summer. It has been stated that the Gunners could face competition in the form of Chelsea and Manchester United in the race to land the French talent in this off-season.
Disasi’s Good Form At The Stade Louis-II Last Season
Disasi had a decent campaign at Monaco recently as he produced a run of solid displays for them when defending inside his half. The French sensation scored six goals and earned four assists in 49 matches for his current employers last season across all fronts.
The 25-year-old was a rock at the back and did well to average 0.8 tackles, 1.5 interceptions and 2.9 clearances per game in Ligue 1 football. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball from inside his half after making 83.8% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
Disasi is under contract at the French club until the summer of 2025. Therefore, the Gunners will have to make a convincing offer if they are serious about recruiting him in this ongoing transfer window.
Is Disasi A Good Fit For Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta?
Disasi is a good tackler of the ball and can read the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot.
The Gonesse-born talent can use his strong 1.90m frame to dominate the opposition in the air and is also proficient at playing his way out from the back. He is primarily a centre-half but can also operate as a right-back if asked to do so.
Disasi would add more bite and steel to Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta’s defence. He is already good enough to challenge for a regular starting spot at the Emirates Stadium.
However, the Gunners have already got Ben White, William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhães and Jurrien Timber in their defensive ranks. Hence, Disasi won’t be a good fit for the North London club unless Arteta opts to sell one of his current defenders this summer.
