In a recent report, Estadio Deportivo claimed that West Ham United are showing interest in Valencia ace Yunus Musah this summer. It has been claimed that the Hammers are eager to acquire the services of the United States midfielder during the summer transfer window.
Musah’s Impressive Form At The Mestalla Stadium
Musah experienced a solid campaign in La Liga as he managed to put in a series of impressive displays at the centre of Valencia’s midfield. The 20-year-old participated in 37 matches for the Spanish club last season, picking up two assists in the process in all competitions.
The New York-born sensation has caught the eye at times by averaging 1.5 tackles, 0.5 clearances, 0.7 shots, 0.5 key passes and 0.8 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has even been excellent when distributing the ball from midfield after making 81.8% of his attempted passes in the top tier of Spanish football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Spanish club will expire in the summer of 2026. Thus, it won’t be easy for West Ham to snap Musah up on a cut-price deal this year.
What Will Musah Bring To West Ham United?
Musah can get stuck in with a few crunching tackles to make life difficult for the opposition in the middle of the park. He usually clears his lines when the opposition are on the front foot and can make some energetic runs from midfield.
The American youngster can also create some decent plays for others around him in the opponent’s half. He is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also fill in as an attacking midfielder or a right-winger if asked to do so.
Musah is good enough to bring more energy and dynamism to West Ham boss David Moyes’ midfield. His arrival would somewhat soften the blow which could be left by the departure of West Ham skipper Declan Rice this summer.
At 20, Musah would be a great signing for the Hammers in the long run as he has the potential to become one of the best players in his position someday. All in all, the East London club would be wise to launch a move to bring the American whizkid to England in this off-season.
