In a recent report, The Evening Standard mentioned that West Ham United are eager to land Bristol City starlet Alex Scott. It has been claimed that the Hammers are hoping to lure the English talent to the London Stadium in this off-season.
Scott’s Impressive Form In The EFL Championship Last Season
Scott has already established himself as a decent performer for Bristol after he produced a handful of impressive displays for them last season. The 19-year-old participated in 49 matches for the English club in the previous campaign, netting a couple of goals and grabbing five assists in various competitions.
The Guernsey-born sensation managed to catch the eye at the centre of the park by averaging 1.8 tackles, 0.9 interceptions, 0.7 clearances, 0.8 shots, 0.9 key passes and 1.1 dribbles per 90 minutes in the EFL Championship. He also distributed the ball relatively well as he has completed 79.3% of his attempted passes in the second tier of English football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Bristol City will run out in the summer of 2025. Therefore, it won’t be easy for the Hammers to sign him on the cheap during this summer transfer window.
West Ham United Are Eager To Land Scott: Is He A Prospect For The Future?
Scott is a good tackler of the ball and can scan the danger quickly to secure possession back for his team in the middle of the park. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when required and can even pass the ball accurately from midfield.
The English youngster deserves credit for adding a few goals and assists to his game but still had a lot of room to grow as a footballer. He mainly functions as a box-to-box midfielder but can also operate as a right-winger if told to do so.
Scott is already good enough to challenge for a regular starting spot at the London Stadium next season. At 19, the future looks quite promising for the English talent as long as he continues to improve with each season.
There is no doubt that Scott is a prospect to watch out for in the future, so West Ham boss David Moyes would be wise to snap him up ahead of the new campaign.
