Havertz’s Difficult Season In The Premier League
Havertz had a tough campaign at the West London club as he struggled to be consistent with his productivity in the final third. The German talent registered nine goals and one assist in 47 matches for Chelsea last season on all fronts.
The 24-year-old deserves some credit for averaging 1.0 tackles, 1.1 clearances, 2.0 shots, 1.1 key passes and 0.5 dribbles per 90 minutes in Premier League football. He has even been tidy with his ball distribution after completing 82.4% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
Havertz is under contract at Stamford Bridge until the summer of 2025. Therefore, it won’t be easy for Real Madrid to land him on the cheap in the upcoming transfer window.
What Should Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti Do With Regards To Havertz?
Havertz excels at finding space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He has got the vision to create a few decent plays for his teammates in the opponent’s half and can strike the ball with venom from all ranges.
The Chelsea attacker mainly functions as an attacking midfielder but can also fill in as a centre-forward or as a right-sided wide player if told to do so. However, the German sensation has often been guilty of being inconsistent with his contributions in front of the opposition goal.
Havertz would have been a decent signing for Real Madrid as they are in dire need of a new forward following the recent announcement of Karim Benzema’s exit from the Madrid club.
Therefore, Carlo Ancelotti should focus on making a convincing offer for the German talent if he is serious about bringing him to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium this summer. He is good enough to help Los Blancos challenge for some major honours in the not-too-distant future.
At 24, Havertz has got a bright future ahead of him. Hence, Ancelotti would be wise to try everything in his power to get a deal done for the German striker during this summer transfer period.
