In a recent tweet, journalist Ignazio Genuardi stated that Tottenham Hotspur have identified Nantes keeper Alban Lafont as a target for this ongoing transfer window. It has been mentioned that Spurs are hoping to snap the French custodian up this summer.
#Mercato #FCN

Lafont’s Solid Season In Ligue 1
Lafont had a solid campaign at Nantes as he managed to put several influential displays in goal for the French club last season. The 24-year-old made 48 appearances for his current employers in the previous campaign, conceding 78 goals and earning 13 clean sheets in multiple competitions.
The French goalkeeper did well to average 1.3 clearances and 6.1 long balls per game in Ligue 1. However, he has been a bit careless when distributing possession from the back based on his pass success rate of 64.6% in the French top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the French club is set to expire in 2024. Thus, Spurs have a good chance of recruiting Lafont on the cheap before the end of this transfer window.
Should Tottenham Hotspur Get Alban Lafont On Board?
Lafont can be a safe pair of hands in between the sticks for his team as he has got decent reflexes that help him to pull off a few solid saves at the back. The French talent is a good handler of the ball as well but needs to find a way to improve his ball distribution from inside his half.
Lafont will no doubt enhance the quality of Tottenham boss Angelos Postecoglou’s squad. He is good enough to serve as an ideal successor to Hugo Lloris at the North London club in the long run.
At 24, Lafont has got a very promising future ahead of him. However, there are some question marks over whether he can cope with the physical side and high intensity of Premier League football.
Still, the pros outweigh the cons of recruiting Lafont as he has the potential to become a top keeper in the coming seasons. Furthermore, the French talent could help Spurs compete for a top-four place in the Premier League and maybe even help the London club compete for a trophy or two over the next few years.
