In a recent report, The Athletic mentioned that Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to finalise a move for Leicester City star James Maddison. It has been claimed that Spurs are eager to seal a move to bring the English talent to North London this summer.
Maddison’s Tough Season At The King Power Stadium
Maddison endured a difficult campaign at Leicester as he failed to help the Foxes avoid being relegated from the Premier League. Still, he deserves credit for netting ten goals and securing nine assists in 32 appearances for the East Midlands club last season across all competitions.
The 26-year-old was one of Leicester’s most reliable performers in the final third based on his average of 2.8 shots, 2.3 key passes and 1.5 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He even distributed the ball relatively well after making 79.5% of his attempted passes in the English top tier (stats via whoscored).
Maddison is under contract at the King Power Stadium until the summer of 2024. Thus, Tottenham have got a good chance of recruiting him on the cheap in this off-season.

Will Maddison Be A Decent Signing For Tottenham Hotspur Boss Angelos Postecoglu?
Maddison can shoot the ball with a lot of power and precision from long-range. He has also got the eye to play a few decisive passes on the attacking end of the pitch.
The English playmaker is an excellent dribbler with the ball as well but needs to work on improving his defensive work rate if he wants to succeed at a top club like Tottenham. He is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also serve as a box-to-box midfielder or as a left-sided wide player if asked to do so by his manager.
Maddison will no doubt inject more goals and creativity into Spurs boss Angelos Postecoglu’s attack. He would even help the North London club push for a top-four spot in the Premier League next season.
At 26, Maddison is about to enter his prime and has what it takes to make an immediate impact at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium if Postecoglu can manage to bring him on board this summer. All in all, the Leicester talent would be a great signing for Spurs in this off-season.
