In a recent interview with The United Stand YouTube channel, journalist Ben Jacobs stated that Tottenham Hotspur have got genuine interest in Manchester United star Jadon Sancho this summer. Jacobs said,
“The Tottenham interest is real for sure. I’m sure people are putting two and two together to say what about a swap deal to offset the fee. That’s not my understanding, but the Tottenham interest is genuine. There is a lot of work for Spurs to do in terms of their recruitment strategy.”
Sancho’s Impressive Run Of Form In Manchester
Sancho enjoyed a decent campaign at Old Trafford recently as he put in a few impressive displays for the Red Devils in the final third. The English talent made 41 appearances for Man United this season, scoring seven goals and earning three assists in various competitions.
The 23-year-old has proven his worth as a decent performer in the opponent’s half by averaging 0.8 shots, 1.7 key passes and 1.3 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has also been careful when interchanging possession with his teammates based on his pass success rate of 85% in the English first division (stats via whoscored).
Is Sancho A Decent Option For Tottenham Hotspur?
Sancho is an excellent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few driving runs with the ball out on the flanks. He can create some decent chances for his teammates in the final third and can shoot the ball with power and precision from long range. Sancho mainly functions as a left-sided wide player but can also fill in as a right-winger or operate in the number ten position if needed.
The English talent can chip in by scoring and creating his fair share of goals from the wide areas but has to figure out a way to be more lethal in front of the opponent’s goal.
Sancho will inject more quality into Tottenham boss Angelos Postecoglou’s attack. He will also offer some healthy competition for Heung-min Son at the North London club over the next few years.
The English sensation has what it takes to help Spurs challenge for a top-four spot in the Premier League next season. Hence, he would be an excellent option for Tottenham to consider during this summer transfer window.
