In a recent report, The Athletic mentioned that Real Madrid are eyeing a move for Fenerbahce playmaker Arda Guler this summer. It has been claimed that Los Blancos are showing interest in recruiting the Turkish youngster in this off-season.
Guler’s Impressive Form At Fenerbahce Last Season
Guler managed to prove his worth as a reliable performer in Fenerbahce’s first team in the previous campaign. The talented teenager banged in six goals and earned seven assists in 35 appearances for the Turkish club last season on all fronts.
The 18-year-old was a consistent performer in the final third and deserves a ton of credit for averaging 1.7 shots, 2.0 key passes and 2.0 dribbles per game in the Turkish Super Lig. He was even accurate when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half after completing 85% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current deal at Fenerbahce is set to run out in the summer of 2025. Thus, Los Blancos will have to make a convincing offer if they want to acquire the services of the gifted playmaker ahead of the new campaign.
Should Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti Snap Guler Up This Summer?
Guler can create space for himself to get a few strikes in on-target. He has got the vision to engineer a few promising chances for others around him in the final third.
The Turkish sensation is a decent dribbler with the ball as well and doesn’t give away the ball cheaply in the opposition half. He is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also operate as a box-to-box midfielder or as a right-sided wide player if asked to do so.
Guler is already good enough to serve as a sporadic member of Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti‘s squad. At 18, he has the potential to become a future star in European football, so Los Blancos will do well to lure him to the Spanish capital this summer.
However, Guler is still quite raw and would need time to settle into life at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. Even then, the pros outweigh the cons of recruiting someone of his potential. All in all, Ancelotti should focus on snapping Guler up before the end of this transfer window.
