In a recent report, COPE claimed that Real Madrid are eyeing a move for Leeds United ace Rodrigo Moreno. It has been revealed that Los Blancos are keeping a keen eye on the Spanish talent who is set to be available for just €3.5m following the Whites’ relegation from the Premier League recently.
Rodrigo’s Difficult Season At Elland Road
Rodrigo has endured a tough campaign at Leeds as he struggled to help them avoid the drop from the English top flight. Still, the Spaniard deserves some credit for scoring 15 goals and earning a couple of assists in 35 appearances for the West Yorkshire club this season across all fronts.
The 32-year-old has done well to average 2.2 shots and 0.5 key passes per game in Premier League football. However, he has lacked quality when linking up play with his teammates in the final third, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 72.5% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
Rodrigo’s current contract at Leeds will run out at the end of next season. Hence, Los Blancos would be optimistic about their chances of landing the talented attacker on the cheap this summer.
Should Real Madrid Move In For Rodrigo Moreno This Summer?
Rodrigo can engineer space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He can be a decent finisher in front of the opponent’s goal when he is playing with confidence on the pitch. Rodrigo is primarily a centre-forward but can also function as a right-sided wide player if required.
The Spanish talent can also create some decent plays for others around him in the final third. He has got a wealth of experience at the highest level and could serve as a decent squad player at a top club like Real Madrid.
We can expect Rodrigo to bring more firepower to Carlo Ancelotti‘s frontline. He would also serve as an upgrade over Eden Hazard who has struggled to prove his worth at the Madrid club over the past few years.
With all things considered, Los Blancos would be wise to move in for Rodrigo during this summer transfer period as he could help them compete across all competitions in the coming seasons.
