In a recent tweet , journalist Sacha Tavolieri stated that Manchester United are among the clubs hoping to land Napoli star Victor Osimhen this summer. It has been claimed that the Red Devils could face competition in the form of Liverpool and Chelsea in the race to sign the Nigerian centre-forward in this off-season.

Osimhen’s Excellent Record At Naples Last Season
Osimhen enjoyed the best season of his playing career at the Naples club recently as he managed to produce a lot of productive displays for them in front of the opponent’s goal. The Nigerian sensation banged in 31 goals and grabbed five assists in 39 matches for Napoli in the previous campaign across all competitions.
The 24-year-old has been a consistent performer in the final third based on his average of 4.2 shots, 1.1 key passes and 0.8 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. However, he lacks quality when linking up play with his teammates up top, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 71% in the Italian top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Italian club is set to run out in 2025. Hence, Man United will have to launch a big offer if they are to stand a chance of winning the race for his services this summer.
Is Osimhen A Dream Choice For Manchester United Boss Erik Ten Hag?
Osimhen excels at finding space for himself to get some strikes in on-target. He has got the vision to create some decent chances for others around him but needs to work on improving his link-up play in the final third.
The Nigerian talent has already proven his worth as a consistent goal-scorer in Serie A. He is a decent dribbler with the ball as well and can use his strong 1.86m frame to dominate the opposition defenders in the air.
Osimhen will add plenty of firepower to Man United boss Erik ten Hag’s frontline. He would serve as a significant upgrade over Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst at Old Trafford in the coming seasons.
Someone with Osimhen’s skillset will be a dream choice for the Red Devils to pursue this summer as he could help them compete for a few major trophies in the not-too-distant future.
