In a recent print edition, Gazzetta dello Sport mentioned that Liverpool are set to rival Bayern Munich for Juventus ace Federico Chiesa. It has been stated that the Reds are eyeing a move of around £38.7m to bring the Italian winger to Merseyside in this off-season.
Chiesa’s Impressive Rise In Italian Football
Chiesa has caught the eye at times with his contributions on the left side of Juventus’ attack. The Italian sensation has done well to register three goals and six assists in 32 matches for the Turin outfit this season across all fronts.
The 25-year-old has given a good account of himself by averaging 1.1 shots, 0.9 key passes and 1.2 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. He has even been excellent when distributing the ball in the final third after making 78.4% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Italian club is set to expire in the summer of 2025. Thus, it won’t be easy for Liverpool to snap him up on the cheap in the upcoming transfer window.
Is Chiesa A Good Option For Liverpool Boss Jurgen Klopp?
Chiesa is a decent dribbler with the ball and can make a few promising runs with the ball in the final third. He can strike the ball with power from long range and can engineer some clear-cut chances for his teammates on the attacking end of the pitch.
At 25, the Italian’s best years are ahead of him. However, Chiesa has to find a way to be more decisive in front of the opponent’s goal if he wants to taste more success at the highest level.
We can expect the Juventus star to add more firepower to Jurgen Klopp‘s frontline. He is good enough to serve as an ideal replacement for Roberto Firmino whose contract at Anfield is coming to an end soon.
Chiesa has what it takes to help the Reds challenge for some major trophies in the coming seasons. However, only time will tell whether he can adapt to the physicality and high intensity of English football. Still, there is no denying that the Italy international would be a great option for the Merseyside club to pursue when the transfer window reopens later this month.
