Lavia’s Impressive Form In Premier League Football Last Season
Lavia has enjoyed a decent campaign at Southampton as he managed to put in a run of consistent displays for them at the centre of the park. However, his efforts were not enough to keep the Saints in the Premier League.
The Belgian sensation made 35 appearances for his current club last season, scoring one goal and securing one assist across all competitions. The 19-year-old anchored the midfield well by averaging 2.1 tackles, 1.1 interceptions, 0.8 clearances, 0.6 key passes and 1.0 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He was even excellent when distributing the ball from midfield after completing 86.4% of his attempted passes in the English top tier (stats via whoscored).
Lavia is under contract at St. Mary’s Stadium until 2027. However, Southampton’s relegation could open the door for the Reds to sign him this summer.
Should Liverpool Boss Jurgen Klopp Bring Lavia To Anfield?
Lavia can get stuck in with a few crunching tackles to make life tough for the opposition in the middle of the park. He usually clears the danger when required and can make some timely interceptions for his side. The Belgian midfield ace is a decent passer of the ball as well and can make a few driving runs with the ball from midfield.
We can expect Lavia to inject more energy and depth into Jurgen Klopp‘s midfield at Anfield. He might even help the Reds compete for a lot of major honours over the next decade.
At 19, Lavia has got a bright future ahead of him, so Klopp should try everything he can to bring him to Merseyside this summer.
