In a recent print edition, Simone Pieretti in Il Tempo mentioned that Liverpool are ready to break the bank for Inter Milan ace Nicolo Barella. It has been stated that the Reds are prepared to reinforce their midfield by recruiting the Italy international this summer.
Barella’s Impressive Run Of Form At San Siro Last Season
Barella enjoyed a decent campaign in Serie A last season when he put in a handful of influential displays at the centre of Inter’s midfield. The 26-year-old found the back of the net on nine occasions and earned ten assists in 52 matches for the Milan outfit last season in various competitions.
The Italian sensation was a reliable performer for Inter at the centre of the park based on his average of 1.4 tackles, 0.9 shots, 1.6 key passes and 1.1 dribbles per game in Serie A. He was even accurate when distributing possession from midfield after completing 85% of his attempted passes in the Italian first division (stats via whoscored).
Barella is under contract at San Siro until the summer of 2026. Therefore, Liverpool have to launch a big-money move if they are serious about signing the Italian midfield ace later this year.
What Will Barella Add To Liverpool Boss Jurgen Klopp’s Team?
Barella is a good tackler of the ball and usually works hard to make life tough for the opposition at the centre of the park. He can strike the ball with power and accuracy from long range and has got the eye to play a few decisive passes in the final third. Barella is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also fill in as a defensive midfielder or play in the number ten position if his manager tells him to do so.
The Italian talent can also make some driving runs with the ball from midfield. He hardly gives away the ball cheaply and would be an excellent signing for the Reds this summer.
Barella will add more quality to Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp‘s midfield department. He has what it takes to nail down a regular starting spot at Anfield next season.
At 26, Barella is about to enter his prime, so Klopp can expect to get the best out of him at the Merseyside club in the coming seasons.
