In a recent report, Gazzetta dello Sport mentioned that Liverpool are in the running to recruit Juventus winger Federico Chiesa this summer. It has been stated that the Reds have already launched a £40m to secure the services of the Italy international ahead of the new campaign.
Chiesa’s Impressive Run Of Form At The Allianz Stadium Last Season
The Genova-born talent enjoyed a decent season at the Turin club after he put in a few impressive displays for them in the final third. Chiesa scored four goals and earned six assists in 33 matches for Juve in the previous campaign in all competitions.
The 25-year-old has caught the eye in the opposition half by averaging 1.2 shots, 1.0 key passes and 1.1 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A football. He has even distributed the ball relatively well after making 78.5% of his attempted passes in the top tier of Italian football (stats via whoscored).
Chiesa is under contract at Juventus until the summer of 2025. Thus, it will be difficult for the Reds to land him on a cut-price deal during this transfer window.
What Will Chiesa Bring To Liverpool?
Chiesa is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and has got the eye to unlock the opponent’s defence with a killer pass from the wide areas. He can even shoot the ball with venom and accuracy from long range. However, the Italian talent has to figure out a way to be more prolific in front of the opposition goal if he wants to taste more success at the highest level.
Chiesa is primarily a left-sided wide player but can also function as a right-winger or in the number ten position if told to do so.
We can expect the Italian to bring more firepower to Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp‘s attack. He would serve as an ideal replacement for Roberto Firmino at the Merseyside club.
At 25, Chiesa is about to enter his prime and is well-equipped to make an instant impact at Anfield as long as he can make a smooth transition to life in Premier League football. All in all, the Reds would be wise to try everything they can to lure him to Merseyside before the end of this summer transfer window.
