In a recent report, Calciomercato mentioned that Everton are eyeing a move for Inter Milan wide player Denzel Dumfries. It has been revealed that the Toffees are hoping to land the Dutch talent during this summer transfer window.
Dumfries’ Solid Season In Serie A
Dumfries experienced a solid campaign at San Siro as he managed to put in a string of eye-catching performances on the right flank. The Dutch talent found the back of the net twice and earned seven assists in 51 matches for the Milan club last season across multiple competitions.
The 27-year-old has worked hard at both ends of the field and did well to average 1.0 tackles, 0.6 clearances, 1.0 shots, 0.9 key passes and 0.6 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. He has even taken care of the ball when distributing possession from the right wing after making 79.1% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Milan club is set to run out in the summer of 2025 which could make it difficult for Everton to land him on a cut-price deal in this transfer window.
Should Everton Boss Sean Dyche Get Dumfries On Board?
Dumfries can get stuck in with a few crunching tackles to make life difficult for the opposition. He doesn’t mind clearing the danger when required and can create some decent plays for his teammates in the final third. The Rotterdam-born wide player can also make some driving runs with the ball and even packs a lot of power with his shot attempts. He is primarily a right-sided winger but can also fill in as a left-back if told to do so by his manager.
Dumfries would no doubt be a massive signing for the Toffees if Sean Dyche can devise a way to bring him to Goodison Park this summer. He ticks all the right boxes in terms of what Dyche demands from his players. Hence, Everton should focus on getting him on board this summer.
The Dutch talent is good enough to earn a regular starting spot at the Merseyside club next season. However, it remains to be seen whether he can find a way to adapt to the physicality and high intensity of Premier League football if Everton manage to lure him to the northwest of England during this summer transfer period.
