In a recent report, The Athletic stated that Everton are eyeing a January move for FC Cincinnati forward Brandon Vazquez. It has been claimed that the Toffees want to recruit the Major League Soccer sensation in the winter transfer window.
Vazquez’s Impressive Record In Cincinnati This Season
Vazquez is enjoying a decent campaign in the MLS as he has produced a few productive performances for Cincinnati in the final third. The 24-year-old has scored six goals and earned one assist in 20 matches for his current club this season across all competitions.
The United States sensation has led the line well by averaging 2.5 shots, 0.5 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Major League Soccer. However, he needs to work on improving his ball distribution after making 67.2% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the American club is set to run out at the end of 2025. Therefore, the Toffees could struggle to land him on the cheap in this off-season.
Should Everton Boss Sean Dyche Bring Vazquez On Board?
Vazquez excels at finding space for himself to get some strikes in on-target. The United States talent can be a prolific presence in front of the opponent’s goal when he is playing with confidence on the pitch.
Standing at 1.88m, the American sensation can use his powerful frame to dominate the opposition defenders in the air. However, he has to find a way to improve his passing accuracy on the attacking end of the field.
There are also some concerns over whether Vazquez will be able to maintain his good form in the Premier League. Still, we can expect him to add more physicality and firepower to Sean Dyche’s attack at Goodison Park. The Cincinnati striker could even offer some healthy competition for Dominic Calvert-Lewin at Everton in the coming seasons.
Thus, it makes sense for the Merseyside club to go all out to bring Vazquez on board during this summer transfer period. At 24, he will only get better over the next few years which makes him a decent option for the Toffees to pursue this summer.
