In a recent report, Tuttomercatoweb mentioned that Chelsea playmaker Christian Pulisic is on the radar of AC Milan this summer. It is understood that the Milan giants want to recruit the United States international from the Blues in this off-season.
Pulisic’s Difficult Season In West London
Pulisic endured a tough campaign at Stamford Bridge recently as he struggled to be consistent with his performances in the final third. The United States sensation scored one goal and picked up a couple of assists in 30 matches for the Blues last season across various competitions.
The 24-year-old could only manage to average 0.8 shots, 0.5 key passes and 0.5 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has even been accurate when distributing possession in the opponent’s half based on his pass completion rate of 84.1% in the English first division (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the West London club is set to run out at the end of next season. Hence, Chelsea will have to cash in on Pulisic this summer, or else risk losing him on a free transfer next year.
Should Chelsea Boss Mauricio Pochettino Cut Pulisic Loose?
Pulisic is a decent dribbler with the ball and has got the pace to cause a few problems for his marker out in the wide areas. He has got the vision to create a few inviting chances for his teammates in the final third and can strike the ball with venom from close range. Pulisic is primarily a left-winger but can also function as a right-sided wide player or play in the number ten position if his manager tells him to do so.
However, there is no denying that the United States international is in dire need of securing regular first-team football if he wants to get his career back on track. At 24, he has his best years ahead of him.
Pulisic is currently on the fringes of Chelsea‘s squad. Thus, it makes sense for both the player and the West London club to part ways this summer.
Pochettino would be better off cashing in on him and using the money generated from his potential sale to strengthen other areas of his match-day squad at Stamford Bridge in this off-season.
