In a recent report, Sport mentioned that Barcelona have been offered a chance to re-sign Paris-Saint Germain star Neymar Jr. It is understood that the Brazilian attacker has offered himself to the Catalan club and is willing to take a pay-cut to seal a return to the Nou Camp in this off-season.
Neymar Jr.’s Impressive Form In Ligue 1 This Season
The 31-year-old had another impressive campaign at Parc des Princes as he put in a run of impressive displays for PSG in the final third. Neymar Jr. has banged in 18 goals and grabbed 17 assists in 29 matches for the French outfit this season on all fronts.
The Brazil international has been a decent performer for the French club based on his average of 1.9 shots, 2.5 key passes and 1.9 dribbles per 90 minutes in Ligue 1. He has even been tidy when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half after completing 82.7% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the French club is set to run out in the summer of 2025. However, he is facing an uncertain future in Paris which could give Barcelona a chance to re-sign him in the upcoming transfer window.
Should Barcelona Boss Xavi Bring Neymar Back?
Neymar has got the pace and dribbling ability to make some dangerous runs with the ball in the final third. He has got the eye to play a few decisive passes in the opponent’s half and can strike the ball with venom and accuracy from all ranges. Neymar is primarily a left-sided wide player but can also play in the number ten position or as a secondary striker if needed.
We can expect the Brazil international to bring more pace and goals to Barcelona boss Xavi’s attack. He has what it takes to help the Catalan club challenge for some major honours over the next years.
However, at 31, Neymar Jr. has only got a handful of years left in him to play at his best. Hence, he will only be a short-term fix to Barca‘s attacking concerns this summer. Still, Xavi should focus on getting a deal done for him when the transfer window reopens later this month.
