In a recent report, Gerard Romero revealed that Barcelona have been offered a chance to land Juventus ace Adrien Rabiot. It has been claimed that the Catalan club have been given an opportunity to bring the French midfielder to the Nou Camp this summer.
Rabiot’s Decent Form In Serie A This Season
Rabiot produced a run of impressive performances at the centre of Juve’s midfield in the previous campaign. The France international scored 11 goals and earned six assists in 48 matches for the Turin club last season on all fronts.
The 28-year-old has been a decent performer in both halves based on his average of 2.0 tackles, 0.8 interceptions, 1.2 clearances, 1.5 shots, 1.0 key passes and 0.8 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. He has even been accurate when distributing possession from midfield after making 83.6% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Allianz Stadium is set to run out at the end of this month. Hence, it makes sense for Barca to offer him a chance to shine at the Nou Camp when he becomes a free agent soon.
Is Rabiot A Good Option For Barcelona Boss Xavi?
Rabiot is a tough-tackling midfielder who can make a few important interceptions for his team at the centre of the park. He doesn’t hesitate to clear the danger when required and can even strike the ball with power from long range. Rabiot is primarily a box-to-box midfielder and can also fill in as a defensive midfielder or as a left-sided wide player if required.
Furthermore, the French midfield ace has got the vision to engineer a handful of decent chances in the final third. He is a good dribbler with the ball as well and would serve as a welcome addition to Barcelona‘s squad this summer.
At 28, Rabiot is playing in his prime and has what it takes to make an instant impact at the Nou Camp if Xavi can devise a way to bring him on board this summer.
The Frenchman is about to become a free agent soon which makes him an excellent option for Barcelona to consider in this off-season. However, only time will tell whether he can maintain his good form in La Liga football if the Catalan club can manage to snap him up later this year.
