In a recent report, The Athletic stated that Aston Villa have identified Leeds United ace Tyler Adams as a target for the upcoming transfer window. It has been claimed that the Villans are eyeing a move to bring the American midfield ace to Villa Park in this off-season.
Adams’ Tough Season At Elland Road
Adams has experienced a difficult campaign at the West Yorkshire club as he failed to help Leeds avoid being relegated from the Premier League. The 36-time United States international was involved in 26 matches for the Whites this season in various competitions.
The 24-year-old has been a reliable performer at the centre of the park based on his average of 3.7 tackles, 1.5 interceptions, 1.0 clearances and 1.0 key passes per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has even been tidy with his ball distribution after making 82.4% of his attempted passes in the English first division (stats via whoscored).
Tyler is under contract at Elland Road until the summer of 2027. However, Leeds’ relegation could open the door for the Villans to land him during the summer transfer period.
What Will Adams Add To Aston Villa Boss Unai Emery’s Team?
Adams is a good tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his team in the middle of the park. He doesn’t mind clearing the danger when needed and has got the vision to create a few meaningful openings for his teammates in the opponent’s half.
We can expect Adams to add more quality to Aston Villa head coach Unai Emery’s midfield. He has what it takes to offer some serious competition for Douglas Luiz, Boubacar Kamara and John McGinn at the West Midlands club next season.
At 24, Adams has his best years ahead of him which makes him a good option for the Villans to consider this summer.
