In a recent report, Birmingham Mail revealed that Aston Villa are keeping tabs on Chelsea youngster Cesare Casadei this summer. It has been stated that the Villans are eyeing a loan move for the Italian youngster in the upcoming transfer window.
Casadei’s Impressive Loan Spell At Reading
The 20-year-old enjoyed a decent loan spell at Reading recently as he put in a string of eye-catching displays for them at the centre of the park. Casadei has made 15 appearances for the English outfit this season, netting one goal in the process in the EFL Championship.
The Italian starlet deserves some credit for averaging 1.8 tackles, 0.6 interceptions, 0.9 clearances, 0.9 shots and 0.5 dribbles per 90 minutes in the English Championship. He has even distributed the ball relatively well from midfield after completing 75.4% of his attempted passes in the second tier of English football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at his parent club Chelsea will run out in the summer of 2028. Thus, it won’t be easy for the Villans to sign him on a permanent basis in this off-season. Aston Villa would be better off opting for a loan move if they are serious about recruiting the gifted youngster this summer.
Should Aston Villa Boss Unai Emery Make A Move For Casadei?
Casadei is a tough-tackling midfielder who can earn possession back for his side at the centre of the park. He doesn’t mind clearing his lines when needed and can shoot the ball with power from long range.
The Italian whizkid can also make a few energetic runs with the ball from midfield. He is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also fill in as a defensive midfielder or play in the number ten position if told to do so.
We can expect Casadei to bring more energy and dynamism to Unai Emery’s midfield department at Villa Park. He could even help the Villans challenge for a top-half finish in the Premier League next season as long as the youngster can make a smooth transition to life in the English top flight.
Therefore, Aston Villa should focus on making a loan move to bring the Italian prospect to Villa Park during this summer transfer period.
