In a recent video on Youtube, journalist Charles Watts urged Arsenal to move in for Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze this summer. Watts said,
“What a talent and what a player. I would have no qualms if Arsenal were in for Eze. I don’t think that is the case, at all, this summer.
“He is an absolutely fabulous player. He started his career at Arsenal. He was an Arsenal player. Arsenal was his first club and then he was released as a 13-year-old. Then went to Reading, Millwall, and he got released by Millwall as well when he was just 18.
“He had to fight his way up the hard way and take a lot of rejections in the past, including one from Arsenal. Now he has been brilliant and made his England debut, which is fantastic for him. Huge talent. He has been great at Crystal Palace, him and Michael Olise are two fantastic players and they are doing great for Palace.
“He should be a good target. I don’t mind at all with Arsenal being linked with Eze or really pushing for him. I don’t think it’s happening. He was an Arsenal player. He was there, just like Harry Kane.”
Eze’s Decent Numbers In Premier League Football
Eze enjoyed another impressive campaign at Selhurst Park after he put in a string of productive displays for the Eagles on the attacking end of the field. The 24-year-old registered ten goals and four assists in 40 matches for Crystal Palace last season in all competitions.
The London-born talent has been a consistent performer in the opponent’s half as he is averaging 1.9 shots, 1.5 key passes and 1.9 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has even been tidy with his ball distribution based on his pass completion rate of 82.4% in the top tier of English football (stats via whoscored).
Should Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta Snap Eze Up This Summer?
Eze is proficient at creating space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He has got the vision to unlock the opposition defence with a killer pass in the final third. The English playmaker can even complete a few dangerous dribbles in the opponent’s half. He is an accurate passer of the ball as well.
Eze will add more firepower to Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta’s attack. He is good enough to offer some healthy competition for Martin Odegaard at the North London club.
Eze already knows the Premier League well by now and is well-equipped to make an instant impact at the Emirates Stadium. Hence, it makes sense for Arsenal to snap the English talent up ahead of the new campaign.
