In a recent report, Het Nieuwsblad claimed that Arsenal are set to rival Chelsea for Everton midfielder Amadou Onana. It has been mentioned that the Gunners are eyeing a move to secure the services of the Belgian talent who is unhappy and wants to leave the Merseyside club this summer.
Onana’s Recent Season At Merseyside
Onana endured a tough campaign at Goodison Park but managed to help Everton retain their top-flight lives recently. The Belgian talent participated in 35 matches for the Toffees last season, netting just one goal and grabbing a couple of assists across multiple competitions.
The 21-year-old has anchored the midfield with conviction by averaging 2.2 tackles, 1.1 interceptions, 1.1 clearances, 1.0 shots, 0.7 key passes and 0.5 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has even been careful when distributing possession from midfield after making 84% of his attempted passes in the English top flight (stats via whoscored).
Onana is under contract at the Merseyside club until the summer of 2027. Hence, Arsenal will have to make a sizable offer if they want to recruit the Belgian midfield ace in this off-season.
