In a recent report, talkSPORT stated that Arsenal are showing interest in Barcelona winger Ferran Torres. It has been claimed that the Gunners are hoping to recruit the Spain international during the summer transfer window.
Torres’ Decent Run Of Form At The Nou Camp
Torres has put in a run of impressive performances for Barca on the attacking end of the field during this campaign. He has done well to score seven goals and pick up three assists in 45 matches for the Catalan club this season across all competitions.
The 23-year-old has been a consistent performer in the opponent’s half as he is averaging 1.2 shots, 0.8 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per game in La Liga. He has even been excellent when distributing the ball in the final third, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 81.2% in the Spanish top-flight (stats via whoscored).
Torres is under contract at the Nou Camp until the summer of 2027. Therefore, it won’t be easy for the Gunners to sign him on a cut-price deal in this off-season.
What Will Torres Add To Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta’s Team?
Torres is quite clever with his movements in and around the opponent’s penalty box. He can create space for himself to get some strikes in at goal and has got the vision to engineer a few promising chances for his teammates in the final third. Torres mainly operates as a left-sided wide player but can also play as a right-winger or as a centre-forward up top if needed.
The Spaniard can chip in by scoring some important goals for his side and is a tidy passer of the ball as well. However, he has to find a way to be more consistent with his productivity in front of the opposition goal.
Torres will undoubtedly add more firepower to Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta‘s frontline. He could even help the Gunners make another push for the Premier League title next season. The Spanish talent already knows English football well from his time at Manchester City and is well-equipped to make an instant impact at the North London club.
Therefore, Arteta should focus on getting a deal over the line for him in the upcoming transfer window.
