In a recent report, Calciomercato mentioned that Arsenal are eager to land Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze this summer. It has been revealed that the Gunners are eyeing a move to lure the Nigerian talent to North London in this off-season.
Chukwueze’s Impressive Record In Spanish Football
Chukwueze enjoyed a fruitful campaign in La Liga after he put in a string of productive performances on the right side of Villarreal’s attack. The 24-year-old has found the back of the net on 13 occasions and grabbed 11 assists in 50 appearances for the Yellow Submarine this season in multiple competitions.
The 27-time Nigeria international has been a consistent performer in the final third based on his average of 1.6 shots, 1.2 key passes and 2.3 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has also been tidy when distributing possession in the opponent’s half as he has completed 78.3% of his attempted passes in the Spanish top-flight (stats via whoscored).
His current deal with Villarreal is set to run out at the end of next season. Hence, Arsenal have a good chance of recruiting Chukwueze on the cheap during this summer transfer period.
Should Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta Get Chukwueze On Board?
Chukwueze can use his pace to make a few dangerous runs with the ball out on the flanks. He is a good dribbler with the ball and can engineer some promising chances for his teammates in the final third.
The Nigerian sensation can strike the ball with accuracy from long range and can contribute by scoring and creating his fair share of goals on the attacking end of the pitch. He is primarily a right-winger but can also play in the number ten position or as a left-sided wide player if needed.
We can expect Chukwueze to add firepower to Mikel Arteta‘s attack in North London. He could even help the Gunners sustain another title charge in the Premier League next season.
At 24, Chukwueze has got his best years ahead of him which makes him a perfect choice for Arsenal to pursue this summer. He has what it takes to help the North London club challenge for some major trophies in the coming years. Thus, Arteta should focus on getting Chukwueze on board before the start of the new campaign.
