In a recent report, Defensa Central mentioned that Real Madrid are hoping to land AS Roma defender Leonardo Spinazzola. It has been claimed that Los Blancos boss Carlo Ancelotti is a big fan of the Italian talent and could move in for him this summer.
Spinazzola’s Impressive Form In Italian Football This Season
Spinazzola is enjoying a decent campaign at Roma as he has put in a string of eye-catching performances on the left side of Jose Mourinho’s defence. The Italian sensation has been involved in 38 matches for the Italian club this season, netting two goals and grabbing six assists in various competitions.
The 30-year-old has caught the eye at times on the left flank based on his average of 0.6 tackles, 0.8 clearances, 0.8 key passes and 1.0 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A football. He has also distributed the ball relatively well after completing 76.8% of his attempted passes in the Italian top tier (stats via whoscored).
Spinazzola is under contract at AS Roma until the summer of 2024. Therefore, Los Blancos could potentially land him on a cut-price deal in this off-season.
Is Spinazzola A Decent Fit For Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti?
Spinazzola is a good tackler of the ball and can make some important clearances for his team on the defensive end of the field. He can strike the ball well from long range and can create some decent plays for his teammates in the final third. The Italian sensation is a good dribbler with the ball as well which makes him a good fit for Carlo Ancelotti’s brand of football at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. He is primarily a left-back but can also function as a left-winger or play as a right-back if his manager asks him to do so.
We can expect Spinazzola to add more quality to Real Madrid‘s backline. He could even serve as an ideal replacement for Dani Carvajal at the Madrid club.
At 30, Spinazzola has got a wealth of experience under his belt and could prove himself to be a decent, short-term signing for Real Madrid if Ancelotti decides to move in for him during this summer transfer window.
