In a recent report, Sky Germany claimed that Real Madrid are eyeing a move for Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies. It is believed that Los Blancos have identified the Canada international as a target for the upcoming transfer window.
Davies’ Decent Run Of Form In The Bundesliga This Season
Davies is enjoying another impressive campaign at the Allianz Arena after putting in a run of decent displays on the left side of Bayern’s defence. The 22-year-old has scored three goals and picked up eight assists in 38 appearances for the German club this season on all fronts.
The Canadian sensation has given a good account of himself on the left flank by averaging 1.7 tackles, 0.9 interceptions, 0.7 clearances, 0.7 shots, 1.7 key passes and 2.7 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga. He has even been tidy with his ball distribution as he has completed 87.2% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the German club is set to run out in the summer of 2025. Thus, it won’t be easy for Los Blancos to land Davies on the cheap in this off-season.
Is Davies The Right Choice For Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti?
Davies is a tough-tackling defender who can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his side on the defensive end of the field. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot and can also make a few driving runs with the ball on the left flank.
The Canadian sensation has got the vision to orchestrate some clear-cut chances for his teammates and can also shoot the ball with power from long range. He is primarily a left-back but can also operate as a left-sided winger if his manager tells him to do so.
Davies will enhance the quality of Real Madrid‘s first XI considerably if Carlo Ancelotti can devise a way to bring him on board this summer. At 22, he has the potential to become a future superstar and would serve as a great replacement for Ferland Mendy at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium next season. All in all, Davies would be an excellent choice for the Madrid giants to consider during this summer transfer period.
