In a recent edition of the Ranks FC podcast, transfer insider Dean Jones urged Manchester City to land West Ham United star Declan Rice. Jones said,
“What if it’s Kalvin Phillips and money? That is actually where I’m now thinking, ‘Hang on, are they spotting something here?’ We know that City have just been nudged out of that Bellingham decision, we know there’s a fondness of Declan Rice, we know they’re looking to revamp that area of the midfield.”
Rice’s Impressive Form For West Ham This Season
Rice is having another impressive campaign at the London Stadium as he has performed at a high level for West Ham in the middle of the park. The London-born midfield ace has scored four times and earned four assists in 44 matches for the Hammers this season across all fronts.
The England international has continued to excel at the heart of David Moyes’ midfield based on his average of 2.3 tackles, 1.8 interceptions, 1.5 clearances, 1.0 shots, 1.1 key passes and 1.0 dribbles per game in Premier League football. He has also been accurate when interchanging possession with his teammates after completing 87.6% of his attempted passes in the English first division (stats via whoscored).

Is Rice A Dream Option For Manchester City?
Rice is a tough-tackling midfielder who can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his team at the centre of the park. He doesn’t mind clearing the danger when required and is a good passer of the ball as well. The English talent can also make some energetic runs with the ball from midfield. He has contributed by scoring and creating his fair share of goals in the final third.
Someone with Rice’s skill set would be a dream option for Man City to consider in this off-season. He has what it takes to help the Mancunian club challenge for even more trophies in the coming seasons.
Rice has got a wealth of experience in the Premier League and won’t take much time settling into life under Pep Guardiola‘s stewardship at the Etihad Stadium.
