In a recent print edition, Sport mentioned that Chelsea will begin formal talks to sign Barcelona star Raphinha. It has been stated that the Blues are ready to launch a bid for the Brazilian winger during the summer transfer period.
Raphinha’s Good Run Of Form In Spanish Football
Raphinha is enjoying a decent campaign at the Catalan club after producing a string of impressive displays on the right side of Barcelona’s attack. The Porto Alegre-born talent has found the back of the net ten times and grabbed 11 assists in 45 appearances for Barca this season across various competitions.
The 26-year-old has proven his worth in the final third by averaging 2.2 shots, 1.6 key passes and 1.2 dribbles per game in La Liga football. He has even been excellent with his ball distribution after making 79.7% of his attempted passes in the Spanish top tier (stats via whoscored).
Raphinha is under contract at the Nou Camp until the summer of 2027. However, Barcelona’s recent financial struggles could open the door for him to move to another club like Chelsea in this off-season.
Should Chelsea Snap Raphinha Up?
Raphinha is a great dribbler with the ball as he can use his quickness to cause a lot of problems for his marker out on the flanks. He has got the vision to engineer a few promising chances for his teammates in the final third and can strike the ball with venom and accuracy from long range. The Brazilian talent is primarily a right-sided wide player but can also fill in as a left-winger if his manager asks him to do so.
We can expect Raphinha to inject more quality into Chelsea‘s frontline and give them another dimension on the attacking end of the field.
Raphinha has played in the Premier League before during his time at Leeds United and won’t take much time settling into life in England if the Blues can get him on board this summer.
At 26, Raphinha is about to enter his prime and would be a great option for the West London club to pursue later this year. Thus, Chelsea should focus on trying everything they can to snap Raphinha up during the summer transfer window.
