In a recent report, Mundo Deportivo stated that Barcelona remain keen on recruiting Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha. It has been claimed that the Catalan club are eyeing a move to recruit the Ivory Coast sensation when he becomes a free agent at the end of this campaign.
Zaha’s Impressive Numbers In Premier League Football This Season
Zaha is enjoying a decent season at Selhurst Park as he has been responsible for putting in a handful of impressive displays for the Eagles in the final third. The 30-year-old has featured in 27 matches for the London club during this campaign, scoring seven goals and picking up three assists in the process across multiple competitions.
The Ivory Coast sensation has been a reliable performer in the opponent’s half and has done well to average 2.5 shots, 1.0 key passes and 2.1 dribbles per 90 minutes in Premier League football. He has even been accurate with his ball distribution after completing 80.9% of his attempted passes in the English top tier (stats via whoscored).
Zaha is under contract at Crystal Palace until the end of this season. Thus, it makes sense for Barca to try and land him on a free transfer later this year.
Should Barcelona Boss Xavi Get Zaha On Board?
Zaha can use his pace to get in behind the opponent’s backline and can be quite tricky when dribbling in and around their penalty area. He can shoot the ball purely and with power from long range and can be a tidy finisher up top when he is playing with confidence on the pitch.
The Ivory Coast talent can also set up some promising chances for others around him. Hence, he would be a good option for Barcelona boss Xavi to consider this summer.
Zaha will no doubt add more pace and goals to Barca‘s attack and might even help the Catalan club challenge for multiple trophies in the future. Therefore, Xavi should focus on getting the Crystal Palace star on board when he becomes a free agent soon.
