Torres’ Impressive Run Of Form At Estadio de la Cerámica
Torres has been a reliable performer for the Yellow Submarine this season as he has produced a run of dominant performances at the heart of their backline. The 26-year-old has participated in 35 matches for the Spanish club during this campaign, netting one goal across all competitions.
The Spanish sensation has given a good account of himself on the defensive third of the pitch based on his average of 1.3 tackles and 4.2 clearances per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has even been tidy with his ball distribution after completing 85.8% of his attempted passes in the Spanish top-flight (stats via whoscored).
Torres is under contract at the Estadio de la Cerámica until the summer of 2024. Thus, it makes sense for the Villans to launch a cut-price move for him in this off-season.
What Will Torres Add To Aston Villa Boss Unai Emery’s Side?
Torres is a solid tackler of the ball and can quickly snuff out the danger for his team. He usually clears his lines when required and can use his strong 1.91m frame to dominate the opposition attackers in the air. Torres is proficient at playing in both centre-back positions.
The Spanish talent is a tidy passer of the ball as well but it remains to be seen whether he can cope with the physical nature and high intensity of Premier League football.
The Villans will do well to lure Torres to Villa Park during this summer transfer period. He is good enough to increase competition for places within Aston Villa boss Unai Emery’s match-day squad.
At 26, Torres is about to enter his prime which makes him a great fit for the West Midlands club ahead of the new campaign. He will no doubt add more quality to Emery’s defensive department at Villa Park. Torres might even help the Villans push for European football in the coming seasons.
