In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that Aston Villa have identified on-loan Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku as a target. It has been mentioned that the Villans are eyeing a move to secure the services of the Belgian centre-forward who is currently playing on loan at Inter Milan.
Lukaku’s Decent Loan Spell In Italian Football
Lukaku is having an impressive loan spell at the San Siro as he has managed to help Inter reach the final of the UEFA Champions League where they will now face off against Manchester City. The Belgian talent has banged in 13 goals and picked up six assists in 33 matches for the Italian club this season in various competitions.
The 30-year-old has led the line well for Inter by averaging 2.0 shots, 1.2 key passes and 0.6 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. However, he needs to find a way to improve his ball distribution after completing 71.9% of his attempted passes in the Italian top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at his parent club Chelsea is set to run out in the summer of 2026. Therefore, the Villans will have to pay a big fee if they want to bring Lukaku on board in the upcoming transfer window.
Should Aston Villa Boss Unai Emery Snap Lukaku Up?
Lukaku can create space for himself to get a few powerful strikes in on-target. He can be a good finisher in the final third when he is playing at the top of his game. The Belgian sensation can also create the odd chance in and around the opponent’s penalty box and is a powerful runner with the ball at his feet. However, he has to find a way to improve his passing accuracy in the opposition half.
Lukaku will undoubtedly bring more firepower to Aston Villa head coach Unai Emery‘s attack. He has what it takes to help the Villans push for European football once again next season and compete for a major trophy in the coming years.
At 30, Lukaku might still have a few good years left in him and could prove to be a valuable asset for the West Midlands club in the short term. Thus, Emery should try everything in his power to snap the Belgian talent up this summer.
