Arsenal entertained Brighton and Hove Albion at the Emirates Stadium earlier this evening as they looked to collect maximum points at home. The Gunners made a solid start to the game but were held to a scoreless draw at the half-time break.
Mikel Arteta’s men made a poor start to the second half as Julio Enciso found the back of the net for the Seagulls in the 51st minute. Deniz Undav put daylight between the two sides when he scored in the 86th minute. Pervin Estupinan got his name on the scoresheet as well in injury time as Arsenal crashed to a dismal 3-0 defeat in front of their home fans.
Let’s take a look at how each Arsenal player performed during the match against the Seagulls.
GK: Aaron Ramsdale – 6/10
The English keeper made a few decent saves at the back and would be disappointed after conceding three goals in the second half.
RB: Ben White – 6/10
He got stuck in with some crunching tackles but offered very little going forward.
CB: Jukub Kiwior – 6/10
Kiwior made some important defensive contributions but won’t be happy after leaking in three goals after the half-time break.
CB: Gabriel – 6/10
The Brazilian talent was a strong presence in the air but was far from convincing with his performance on the defensive end of the field.
LB: Kieran Tierney – 6/10
He did his fair share of defending but lacked quality on the ball.
CM: Martin Odegaard – 6/10
Odegaard was quiet for most of the game but managed to engineer a couple of decent chances in the final third.
CM: Jorginho – 6/10
The Italian talent struggled to get a foothold in the game and produced an underwhelming display at the centre of the park.
CM: Granit Xhaka – 6/10
He made a couple of inviting chances in the final third and was replaced close to the hour mark.
RW: Bukayo Saka – 7/10
Saka made some dangerous runs with the ball but lacked the cutting edge in the final third.
ST: Gabriel Jesus – 6.5/10
He showed a few flashes of what he can do but didn’t do enough to register a goal.
LW: Gabriel Martinelli – 6/10
Martinelli made a quiet start to the game but was forced off in the 19th minute.
Substitutes:
LW: Leandro Trossard – 5.5/10
He was unfortunate to hit the post but made some poor errors of judgment during his time on the pitch.
CM: Thomas Partey – 6/10
He made two inviting chances in the final third.
RW: Reiss Nelson – 6/10
Nelson produced a decent cameo off the bench.
ST: Eddie Nketiah – 6/10
He made one key chance in the Brighton half.
CAM: Emile Smith Rowe – 6/10
Smith Rowe‘s impact on the game was minimal.
