In a recent interview with Caught Offside, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed that Arsenal are showing interest in Valencia midfielder Yunus Musah. Romano said,
“I’ve mentioned Arsenal and Chelsea’s interest in Yunus Musah and it is the case that they are following Musah since January; Inter as well.
“At the moment it’s just scouting and not advanced yet, but Musah has good chances to move this summer.”
Musah’s Impressive Run Of Form In Spanish Football
Musah is having a solid campaign at the Mestella Stadium after establishing himself as an important member of their first XI. The 20-year-old has made 32 appearances for the Spanish club this season, picking up a couple of assists in the process on all fronts.
The New York-born talent has been a consistent performer at the centre of the park based on his average of 1.6 tackles, 0.8 shots, 0.6 key passes and 1.0 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has even been accurate with his ball distribution as he has completed 82.3% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Valencia is set to run out in 2026. Thus, the Gunners will have to pay a big fee if they are serious about recruiting Musah in this off-season.
Is Musah A Decent Option For Arsenal Head Coach Mikel Arteta?
Musah can get stuck in with some crunching tackles to make life tough for the opposition at the centre of the park. He can shoot the ball accurately from long range and has got the vision to engineer a few inviting chances for his teammates in the final third.
The talented youngster is also a great dribbler with the ball at his feet. He is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also fill in as an attacking midfielder or as a right-winger if asked to do so.
Musah is good enough to increase competition for places within Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta’s match-day squad. At 20, the future is quite promising for the Valencia whizkid which makes him an excellent, long-term option for the Gunners to pursue during this summer transfer period. Arteta could be the ideal man to unlock the best out of Musah at the Emirates Stadium over the next decade.
