In a recent report, Calciomercato stated that West Ham United are showing interest in Inter Milan ace Joaquin Correa. It has been mentioned that the Hammers are eyeing a move to acquire the services of the Argentine forward during this summer transfer period.
Correa’s Uninspiring Campaign In Italian Football
Correa is having a tough campaign at San Siro as he has struggled to find consistency with his performances in the final third. The Argentine sensation has taken part in 31 matches for the Milian outfit this season, finding the back of the net on three occasions and earning three assists in the process across all competitions.
The 28-year-old has seen most of his appearances come as a substitute which could be why he is only averaging 0.8 shots, 0.5 key passes and 0.2 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. He has been tidy when distributing the ball in the opposition half after completing 79.9% of his attempted passes in the Italian top tier (stats via whoscored).
Correa is under contract at Inter Milan until the summer of 2025. Therefore, it will be difficult for West Ham to land him on the cheap in this off-season.
What Will Correa Add To West Ham United Boss David Moyes’ Side?
Correa can create space for himself to get some shot attempts in at goal when he is playing well and with confidence on the field. He can also engineer a few decent plays for others around him in the final third and is a good dribbler with the ball as well. Correa mainly functions as a secondary striker but can also play as a left-sided wide player or as a centre-forward if needed.
The Argentine talent is in dire need to earn regular playing starts if he wants to get his career back on track. West Ham boss David Moyes has got the luxury to offer him a regular starting spot at the London Stadium.
At 28, Correa has entered his prime and could make an instant impact at the East London club if he can make a smooth transition to life in Premier League football. We can expect him to add more firepower to Moyes’ frontline and increase competition for places within his match-day squad.
