In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that Real Madrid are eyeing a move for on-loan Inter Milan ace Romelu Lukaku who is set to return to Chelsea soon. It is believed that Los Blancos boss Carlo Ancelotti wants to recruit the Belgian centre-forward during the summer transfer window.
Lukaku’s Decent Loan Spell In Italian Football
Lukaku has produced a run of impressive displays as the focal point of Inter’s attack during this campaign. The 29-year-old has found the back of the net on nine occasions and picked up three assists in 26 appearances for the Italian outfit this season across all competitions.
The Belgian sensation has done well to average 1.8 shots, 1.0 key passes and 0.6 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. However, he lacks quality when linking up play in the final third based on his pass completion rate of 69.8% in the top tier of Italian football (stats via whoscored).
Lukaku is under contract at his parent club Chelsea until the summer of 2026. Therefore, Los Blancos will have to make a sizable offer if they want to recruit him in this off-season.
Is Lukaku A Good Choice For Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti?
Lukaku can use his strong 1.91m frame to dominate the opposition defenders in the air. He packs a lot of venom with his shot attempts and can also set up some inviting chances for others around him in the final third. The Belgian sensation can also make a few powerful runs with the ball but needs to work on improving his link-up play up top.
At the moment, Lukaku is far from a prolific forward. Thus, it makes no sense for Real Madrid to move in for him in the summer.
However, there is no denying that the Belgian forward is good enough to serve as a valuable squad player at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. Still, Los Blancos head coach Carlo Ancelotti would be better off opting for a more proven talent when the transfer window reopens later this year.
With all things considered, Lukaku won’t be a good choice for the Madrid giants to pursue during this summer transfer period as he would struggle to challenge Karim Benzema for a regular starting spot next season.
