In a recent report, Le Parisien stated that Manchester City are keeping tabs on AS Monaco defender Axel Disasi. It is understood that the Mancunian side could face competition in the form of Chelsea in pursuit of the French talent.
Disasi’s Impressive Numbers At The Stade Louis-II
Disasi is having a brilliant campaign in French football as he has been responsible for performing at a high level for Monaco on the defensive third of the pitch. The 25-year-old has registered six goals and four assists in 41 matches for the French club this season across all fronts.
The three-time France international has given a good account of himself when defending inside his half based on his average of 0.8 tackles, 1.7 interceptions and 3.1 clearances per 90 minutes in Ligue 1. He has even been excellent when distributing the ball from the back after completing 83.3% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Monaco is set to run out in the summer of 2025. Thus, it won’t be easy for Man City to land him on the cheap at the end of this campaign.
What Will Disasi Bring To Manchester City?
Disasi is a good tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his team when defending at the back. He is usually quick to spot the danger and doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when required. Standing at 1.90m, Disasi can use his strong frame to win some 50-50 aerial duels for his side.
The French defensive ace can also contribute by scoring and creating his fair share of goals at the other end of the field. He is a good passer of the ball as well which makes him a decent fit for Pep Guardiola‘s brand of football at Manchester City.
We can expect Disasi to bring more bite and steel to the Mancunian club‘s defensive department and help them compete for even more trophies over the next decade. However, only time will tell whether the French centre-half can cope with the physical nature and high intensity of English football if Man City can devise a way to recruit him this summer.
