According to a report from Football.London, Chelsea are set to sign Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig as they look to add to their attacking roster. It is believed that a plan is already in motion to bring him to Stamford Bridge, as the Blues are willing to pay more than £50 million. However, the move will be finalised upon the completion of his contract this summer.
Nkunku’s Impressive Run Of Form This Season
Nkunku has had a brilliant start to this season as he has put in some influential displays down the final third. He has managed to find the back of the net on sixteen occasions and created four assists over twenty-six appearances so far.
The France international has given a good account of himself as he has averaged 2.7 shots, 1.7 key passes and 1.2 dribbles per game in the Bundesliga. He has also been tidy with his ball distribution after completing 81.6% of his attempted passes in the German top flight (stats via whoscored).
Decent Fit For Chelsea Boss Graham Potter?
Nkunku remains an attacking threat in the final third, as he can strike the ball with power and accuracy from a long range while also being able to finish inside the penalty box. He has the ability to get past defenders to create space for himself using his pace and excellent ball control. Furthermore, he can distribute the ball efficiently and also set up his teammates in front of the goal.
At 24, Nkunku has established himself as one of the best attackers in Europe while having the potential to grow further. He is primarily a centre-forward but remains versatile enough to play virtually anywhere in the final third. This makes him an excellent addition to Chelsea‘s attacking department.
Overall, Graham Potter has done well in identifying him as a potential target and should definitely bring him to Stamford Bridge, as he would prove to be a valuable asset in the attack next season.
