In a recent report, Il Secolo XIX (via Roma Live) mentioned that West Ham United are open to launching a €20m move for Spezia Calcio ace M’Bala Nzola. It has been revealed that the Hammers are planning to move in for the Angolan centre-forward in the summer.
Nzola’s Decent Numbers In Italian Football This Season
Nzola has put in a run of impressive displays as the spearhead of Spezia Calcio’s attack during this campaign. The 26-year-old has made 25 appearances for the Italian side this season, netting 14 goals and picking up three assists in the process across various competitions.
The five-time Angola international has led the line well on his own and has done well to average 2.2 shots, 0.9 key passes and 1.0 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. He has even been excellent when linking up play with his teammates in the final third after completing 80.1% of his attempted passes in the Italian first division (stats via whoscored).
Nzola is under contract at the Italian club until the summer of 2024. Hence, the Hammers could land him on a cut-price deal at the end of this season.
Is Nzola A Good Option For West Ham United?
Nzola excels at finding space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He has got the vision to engineer some clear-cut chances for his teammates in the final third and can make a few driving runs with the ball up top.
The Angolan sensation is primarily a centre-forward but can also fill in as a right-sided wide player if his manager asks him to do so.
We can expect him to bring more firepower to West Ham United head coach David Moyes’ frontline. He is good enough to compete with Michail Antonio for a regular starting spot at the London Stadium next season and could help the Hammers challenge for a European spot in the Premier League over the next few years. All in all, Nzola would be a decent option for West Ham to pursue when the transfer window reopens later this year as he could potentially be available on the cheap with his current deal set to expire in 2024.
