In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that Real Madrid are hoping to sign Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans. It has been mentioned that Los Blancos are eyeing a move to bring the Belgian talent to the Spanish capital on a free transfer in the summer.
Tielemans’ Up And Down Season In English Football
Tielemans is having a difficult campaign with the Foxes as he has struggled to help them be consistent in Premier League football. The Belgian sensation has banged in four goals and earned one assist in 29 appearances for Leicester this season in various competitions.
The 25-year-old has been a useful contributor at the heart of Brendan Rodgers’ midfield based on his average of 2.1 tackles, 0.8 interceptions, 0.7 clearances, 1.0 shots, 1.0 key passes and 0.7 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has even taken care of the ball when distributing possession from midfield after making 83.9% of his attempted passes in the English top flight (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the King Power Stadium is set to run out at the end of this season. Thus, it makes sense for Real Madrid to snap him up on a free transfer later this year.
What Will Tielemans Add To Real Madrid Boss Youri Tielemans?
Tielemans can get stuck in with some solid tackles to make life difficult for the opposition at the centre of the park. He doesn’t hesitate to put his foot through the ball when needed and can make a few timely interceptions for his team.
The Belgian sensation can engineer some meaningful chances for others around him in the opponent’s half and can strike the ball with venom from long range. He is a decent dribbler with the ball as well. Tielemans is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also fill in as a defensive midfielder or play in the number ten position if told to do so.
We can expect Tielemans to add more quality and experience to Carlo Ancelotti’s midfield department at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. He could even serve as a perfect successor to Luka Modric who is in the last legs of his playing career at the Madrid club.
At 25, Tielemans has his best years ahead of him which makes him a good choice for Los Blancos to pursue at the end of this campaign. He could also help Real Madrid challenge for some major trophies over the next few years.
