In a recent report, Takvim stated that Newcastle United are keeping tabs on Fenerbahce full-back Ferdi Kadioglu. It has been claimed that the Magpies have sent scouts to catch the Turkish talent in action and were left impressed by his recent progress as a right-back back in his homeland.
Kadioglu’s Impressive Numbers At The Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium
Kadioglu is having a decent campaign in Turkey as he has been responsible for putting in a few eye-catching displays for Fenerbahce on the right flank. The 23-year-old has registered one goal and three assists in 32 appearances for his current employers this season across all fronts.
The Arnhem-born talent has been a reliable performer at both ends of the field based on his average of 2.2 tackles, 1.0 interceptions, 1.1 clearances, 0.8 shots, 1.5 key passes and 1.2 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Turkish Super Lig. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half after completing 85.1% of his attempted passes in the Turkish top tier (stats via whoscored).
Kadioglu is under contract at Fenerbahce until the summer of 2026. Thus, it won’t be easy for the Magpies to sign him on the cheap at the end of this campaign.
Should Newcastle United Boss Eddie Howe Snap Kadioglu Up?
Kadioglu is a good tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his team on the defensive end of the pitch. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when needed and has got the eye to play some decisive passes in the opponent’s half.
The Turkish full-back can even make a few driving runs with the ball on the right flank. However, Kadioglu is still unproven at the highest level and could struggle to make a smooth transition to life in Premier League football.
He is primarily a right-back but can also function as a left-back or as an attacking midfielder if his manager tells him to do so.
We can expect Kadioglu to bring more quality to Eddie Howe’s defence and offer some serious competition for Kieran Trippier at St. James’ Park in the coming seasons. At 23, he has his best years ahead of him and could prove to be a success story at the Tyneside club in the coming seasons.
Hence, Newcastle United would be wise to try everything they can to snap him up during the summer transfer window as he could go on to become a future star in English football.
