In a recent report, the Danish magazine Tipsbladet revealed that Manchester United are showing interest in Atalanta forward Rasmus Hojlund. It is believed that the Red Devils are eyeing a move to secure the services of the Denmark international.
Hojlund’s Decent Numbers In Italian Football This Season
The 20-year-old is having an impressive season in Italy as he has managed to produce a string of productive displays as the spearhead of Atalanta’s attack. Hojlund has banged in 14 goals and picked up five assists in 33 matches for the Italian club during this campaign on all fronts.
The talented youngster has led the attack relatively well for his current club and deserves credit for averaging 1.5 shots, 0.9 key passes and 0.7 dribbles per game in Serie A football. However, he needs to work on improving his link-up play in the final third, based on his pass completion rate of 74.8% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
Hojlund is under contract at Atalanta until the summer of 2027. Thus, Man United will have to pay a massive fee if they want to recruit the Danish sensation in the summer.
Is Hojlund A Good Fit For Manchester United Boss Erik Ten Hag?
Standing at 1.91m, Hojlund can use his strong frame to hold possession up the pitch and win a few aerial duels for his team. He excels at creating a yard of space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal and has proven himself to be an accomplished finisher in front of the opposition goal.
The Denmark international can also create some decent chances for his teammates on the attacking third of the field and is a good dribbler with the ball as well. However, he has to find a way to improve his passing accuracy if he wants to fit Erik ten Hag‘s style of play at Old Trafford.
We can expect Hojlund to bring some much-needed firepower to Man United‘s attack. He would also serve as a worthy upgrade over Wout Weghorst, who is currently playing on loan from Burnley.
At 20, Hojlund still has a lot of room to grow as a footballer and could help the Red Devils challenge for some major trophies over the next decade. Thus, he will be an excellent fit for the Mancunian side this summer.
