In a recent report, Sport claimed that Manchester City star Bernardo Silva would love to play for Barcelona. It has been revealed that the Portuguese talent is open to leaving the Mancunian outfit in favour of a move to the Catalan club in the summer.
Silva’s Impressive Numbers In English Football This Season
The Lisboa-born talent is having a decent season at Manchester as he has been responsible for producing a series of impressive displays in the opponent’s half. Silva has found the back of the net on three occasions and earned five assists in 36 appearances for the Mancunian club during this campaign across all competitions.
The Portuguese sensation has proven himself to be a valuable contributor at the Etihad Stadium by averaging 1.7 tackles, 0.9 shots, 1.1 key passes and 1.0 dribbles per game in Premier League football. He has even been excellent when interchanging possession with his teammates after completing 89% of his attempted passes in the English top flight (stats via whoscored).
Silva is under contract at the Mancunian club until the summer of 2025. However, he wants to leave which could open the door for Barcelona to land him at the end of this season.
Is Silva A Dream Option For Barcelona Boss Xavi?
Silva can make a few solid tackles to make life difficult for the opposition at the centre of the park. He can strike the ball with power and accuracy from long range and has got the eye to play a few decisive passes on the attacking end of the pitch. Silva is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also function as a box-to-box midfielder or as a right-winger if his manager asks him to do so.
The Portuguese sensation is a decent dribbler with the ball as well and doesn’t mind working his socks off both on and off the field. Hence, he will be an excellent fit for Xavi’s style of play at the Nou Camp. At 28, the Man City star is playing in his prime at the moment and would no doubt enhance the quality of Xavi‘s first XI.
We can expect Silva to bring more goals and creativity to Barca‘s attack and help the Catalan club challenge for some major trophies in the coming seasons.
All in all, Silva will be a dream option for Barcelona to consider at the end of this campaign as long as they can find the funds to pull off such a transfer.
