In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Manchester City are eyeing a player-swap deal for Barcelona starlet Gavi. It has been claimed that the Mancunian giants are hoping to use Bernardo Silva in a move to secure the services of the Barca midfielder in the summer.
Gavi’s Impressive Form In Spanish Football This Season
Gavi is having a fine campaign at the Catalan club as he has managed to put in a run of influential performances at the centre of Xavi’s midfield. The 18-year-old has registered two goals and five assists in 36 matches for Barca this season across all fronts.
The gifted teenager has caught the eye with his displays at the centre of the park based on his average of 0.7 shots, 1.2 key passes and 0.7 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has even been excellent when distributing possession from midfield after making 88.1% of his attempted passes in the Spanish first division (stats via whoscored).
His current deal at the Nou Camp is set to run out in the summer of 2026. Hence, Man City will have to make a lucrative offer if they are to secure his services at the end of this season.
Manchester City Planning To Use Silva To Land Gavi: Good Move For Everyone Involved?
Gavi is a decent passer of the ball and has got the vision to engineer some clear-cut chances for his teammates in the final third. He can strike the ball with power and accuracy from long range and can make a few driving runs with the ball from midfield.
At 18, the future is quite bright for Gavi. Hence, Pep Guardiola would do well to lure him to the Etihad Stadium in the summer.
We can expect Gavi to add more goals and creativity to Man City‘s midfield and serve as an ideal successor to Kevin De Bruyne at the Mancunian club in the long run. All in all, the Spaniard’s move to Man City could be a good move for both the player and the English outfit as Guardiola will be the perfect man to oversee his development and unlock the best out of him in the coming seasons.
