In a recent report, FC Inter News mentioned that Liverpool are eyeing a move for Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic. It is believed that the Reds are desperate to land a new midfielder and have identified the Croatia international as an option for the summer transfer window.
Brozovic’s Season Of Mixed Emotions In Italian Football
Brozovic has experienced up and down season at San Siro so far as he has missed a lot of games due to injuries. However, the Croat sensation has done well to put in a few impressive displays at the heart of Inter’s midfield.
The 30-year-old has registered two goals and five yellow cards in 21 matches for the Italian club during this campaign across all fronts. Brozovic has anchored the midfield quite well for the Italian side as he is averaging 1.1 tackles, 0.9 interceptions and 0.9 clearances per 90 minutes in Serie A. He has even been accurate with his ball distribution after completing 88.8% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
Brozovic is under contract at Inter until the summer of 2026. Therefore, the Reds will have to make a big offer if they want to land the Croatia international later this year.
Is Brozovic A Decent Option For Liverpool Head Coach Jurgen Klopp?
Brozovic is a good tackler of the ball and can sense the danger quickly to earn possession back for his team at the centre of the park. He doesn’t mind clearing the danger when required but needs to be more productive with his contributions in the opponent’s half.
The Zagreb-born talent is primarily a defensive midfielder but can also function as a box-to-box midfielder if told to do so. He is an accurate passer of the ball as well which makes him a good option for Liverpool to consider this summer.
Brozovic will add some much-needed depth to Jurgen Klopp‘s match-day squad as he is good enough to fight for a regular starting spot at Anfield. He might even help the Merseyside club secure a top-four place in the Premier League next season. However, only time will tell whether he can make a smooth transition to life in English football.
