West Ham United will welcome Southampton at the London Stadium this Sunday as they focus on securing a good result at home in the Premier League. The Hammers managed to secure a dominant 4-0 win over AEK Larnaca prior to the international break, so they will go into this game with a lot of confidence this weekend.
David Moyes will opt for a 4-3-3 formation and could name a strong first XI for this game. Danny Ings will lead the charge for the East London club in the final third.
4-3-3 West Ham United Predicted Lineup To Face Southampton
Defence
Alphonso Areola will operate in between the sticks for West Ham after he secured a clean sheet in his last appearance. Nayef Aguerd will resume his defensive partnership with Kurt Zouma at the heart of Moyes’ defence as they look to keep the Southampton attackers frustrated throughout the game.
Thilo Kehrer could get a chance to impress as the right-back while Emerson Palmieri fills in on the other side as the left-back. Both of them would have to keep a solid shape at the back and try to create some decent chances going forward.
Angelo Ogbonna and Ben Johnson will be named on the bench as they wait for their chance to make an impact in the second half if needed.
Midfield
Tomas Soucek, Declan Rice and Lucas Paqueta will make up Moyes’ midfield as they focus on dominating possession at the centre of the park and orchestrate enough chances for West Ham to win this home game.
Manuel Lanzini will be named on the bench as he awaits his chance to shine as a second-half substitute if Moyes opts to call upon his services.
Attack
Said Benrahma will try to catch the eye as the left-sided wide player while Jarrod Bowen looks to impress on the other flank as the right-winger.
Danny Ings will spearhead Moyes’ attack down the middle and would be keen on getting his name on the scoresheet against his old club.
Michail Antonio will be in a race against time to be fit for this clash as he is recovering from a calf injury that he picked up during this international break.
