In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that Everton are facing stiff competition for Flamengo striker Pedro. It has been stated that the Toffees will have to rival West Ham United and Aston Villa in pursuit of the Brazilian centre-forward in the summer.
Pedro’s Impressive Record In Brazilian Football
Pedro has been a prolific goal-getter for Flamengo over the past couple of years and has firmly established himself as one of the most important members of their match-day squad. The 25-year-old has banged in 71 goals and earned 19 assists in 159 appearances for the Brazilian club so far across all fronts. He has also made four appearances for the Brazilian national team, netting one goal in the process.
The talented forward has caught the eye at times in the final third as he is averaging 2.2 shots and 0.7 key passes per 90 minutes in the Brasileirao. However, he needs to improve his ball distribution after making 72.8% of his attempted passes in the top tier of Brazilian football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Brazilian club is set to run out in the summer of 2027. Thus, it won’t be easy for the Toffees to win the race for his services at the end of this campaign.
What Will Pedro Bring To Everton?
Pedro excels at generating space for himself and can test the opposition keeper with his shot attempts. He has been a consistent goal-getter in Brazilian football but needs to be more clever with his runs in behind the opponent’s backline. Pedro has also got the eye to play a few decisive passes on the attacking end of the pitch as well.
However, the Brazilian sensation is yet to prove his worth outside his homeland. Thus, there are some serious concerns over whether he would be able to cope with the physical nature and high intensity of Premier League football if the Toffees manage to get him on board in the future.
We can expect Pedro to bring a lot of firepower to Everton head coach Sean Dyche’s frontline. He could even offer some healthy competition for Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Neal Maupay at the Merseyside club in the coming seasons.
Thus, it makes sense for the Toffees to launch a move for Pedro in the summer as he could help them push for a top-half finish in the Premier League over the next few years. At 25, the Brazilian marksman will only get better with each season which makes him a good option for Dyche to consider when the transfer window commences at the end of this campaign.
